DJ loves his pool that Grammy bought him last year. For some reason he won't sit down in the water both in the tub or the pool, so we tried to see if he would if he slid down the whale, NOPE he quickly jumped up and did it again. He loves the sprinkler part of the whale.
DJ has been doing so much lately. Over the 4th of July weekend, he went to the Columbus Zoo for his first time zoo experience. He loved the animals.. Especially the monkeys.
They have a great playground area that he played in as well, but when he tried to go up the big covered slide and we pulled him out, he had a meltdown for like 20 minutes. That was not fun. Even a slushee didn’t make him happy. He also didn’t like his “leash”. It was his first time really using it and this boy does not like to feel like he is not in control. So we compromised and let him hold our hand and he did really well.
He also had his first boat ride on Lake Loramie. He loved the boat and the water. He just didn’t like the life vest at all. He was not able to drink and eat his fishies since the vest wouldn’t let him move too much.
So I would hold the cup and feed him. He was content once he walked around the boat and watched the water. I know that Ty was completely happy to see his little boy love water and enjoy the boat. Ty also loves that DJ is such a boy. He loves to be dirty and play rough. If he gets hurt, he will barely whimper. He cries more during his meltdowns for food, nap, or whatever.
I am amazed daily at how much DJ is talking now. He picks up words and sounds all the time. He loves to say the number 2. So now I can’t even do the “DJ by time I count to 3 statements”. I go 1 and then he says 2. It’s so cute, but hard to discipline. Most of the time he still stops by time I get to 3, but for some reason my little 20 month old hates the word No. I don’t know why kids don’t get it. But then again, it’s all so new to him and I have to try to remember that all the time. Every day, I am learning to be a more patient and understanding parent.
His favorite shows are “Thomas the Train” and “Sesame Street”. He loves to grab his “choo choo” and watch it with us. Lately every morning, we have been watching SS before we go to daycare. I love spending the quality time with him either just relaxing or playing while we watch TV. I know that in a few years he won’t want to be spending a lot of time with me. Already he says “Dada” nonstop. I know he loves me, but wouldn’t it be nice for him to say my name and not when he is hungry or upset? It is strange that he seems to want me after the time outs though. Even if Ty puts him in one, he goes to me for the hug and sorry. I will take the hug and even sorry anytime. I love to kiss on him all the time :)
